The iChildren's Choir (iCC) raised
$500 for the parish in its
3rd Annual Christmas Caroling. The iCC sang outside the Parish Center after the 7:30AM Mass (in 46-degree-weather), 9AM Mass (57-degree-weather), 10:30AM Mass (69-degree-weather), and 12PM Mass (72-degree-weather) on the
Feast of the Epiphany.
In the past, the iCC would sing on the
Feast of the Holy Family, but because of the rain, the event was postponed to January 2. Only half the iCC members were able to participate. Breakfast and lunch for the iCC members were provided through a generous donation from an iCC family.
As you know, the iCC rehearses Friday evening and at 8:30AM on Sunday morning before the 9AM Mass--every week--rain or shine, holiday or regular Sunday. The iCC is liturgy-based, not performance-based, so their main commitment is to serve at Mass every Sunday--unusual in the children's choir world.
For every child in the iCC, an entire family is also committed to service to our parish. Some iCC parents are currently involved as greeters-ushers, lectors, choir members, prayer groups, among others. Through their fundraising for the parish, the iCC is learning that fundraising for the community is more important than fundraising just for their own needs. Thus, the $500 that was raised is for parish needs. It may not seem like a lot, but it's like a million bucks in the currency of service.
