The year 2027 marks Incarnation Catholic Church’s 100th anniversary. In preparation for this august moment in the unfolding story of our Catholic community, we have been celebrating annually our feast day around March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, when the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear the Son of God (Luke 1:26-38).
We had our 1st Annual Festum Incarnationis on March 30, 2019, celebrated with a dinner, dance, art and music showcase at the Incarnation Community Center.
The 2nd Annual Festum Incarnationis in 2020 was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and is awaiting celebration with a dinner-dance when we are allowed to do so safely.
In 2021, the 3rd Annual Festum Incarnationis will take place on Thursday, March 25 (the actual date of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord). We will begin with the regular daily Mass at 8:30AM (in the church) and 5:30PM Mass, preceded by the Holy Rosary and Chaplet of the Divine Mercy in the church.
Immediately following the 5:30PM Mass, we will have a Candlelight Vigil at the outdoor sanctuary, a prayer service that includes the recitation of the Angelus, a prayer of devotion for the Incarnation (the official prayer of the Festum Incarnationis), inspiring music and short reflections, as we remember those who died during this pandemic. We will also have a time capsule (on the stage) that we will fill with written expressions of our own experiences or reflections during the pandemic year to share with those who will open the time capsule on Incarnation’s centennial year in 2027. Please write your thoughts before you come, if possible. Otherwise, you may write your reflection that evening. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, we cannot provide any writing instruments.
The entire community is invited to this celebration of Incarnation Catholic Church’s 94th birthday. You may sit outdoors (please bring your own candle and chair) or take the drive-in option, tuning in to FM89.1 on your car radio.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols apply: Face masks, social distancing, hand sanitizing. If you are not feeling well or have been exposed to anyone with the coronavirus, please stay home.
