With the approval of the Vatican and after a long and careful consultation with our parish leaders, members of our Finance Council and Parish Council, the parish staff and school leadership, the regional bishop, the archbishop and his consultors, the Incarnation Community Center has been sold to the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.
The decision to sell the property was made based on its financial burden to the parish, the costly deferred maintenance, lack of immediate accessibility, and the overall advantage of improving the parish campus from the sale proceeds.
Here is the great news: Thank God the archdiocese was able to sell it for us for $12,000,000! The parish bought it for $7,100,000; so, we got a substantial profit. We thank all our donors, including those who gave to the Second Collections to pay off the property.
From the sale proceeds that will surely ALL go to our parish, we can now move forward to an exciting period of improving and developing our parish and school grounds, including a more accessible, feasible, and new community center/multi-purpose building that reflects our new parish vision and mission.
We are delighted that another church bought it. If you remember, the Methodist Church sold it to us, and now another church, the Armenian Apostolic Church, is taking possession of it.
Per our agreement with the new owner, all our Incarnation current programs, including the Pre-K, will continue to use the facilities free of charge through June 2023. There is an ongoing discussion of the possibility of extending the use of Pre-K rooms there until we are ready to move this program to our school grounds.
We look forward to the 100th-year celebration of our parish in 2027 with great promise! Thanks be to God!
